Ditch the library and the computer lab and get off campus to study for finals! You need a change of scenery when aimlessly making flashcards and you definitely need something better than basic Starbucks coffee. Hop on the subway and find one of these four places to hit the books.
La Colombe coffee shop
Location: 1414 S Penn Square, Philadelphia, PA 19102
If you haven’t tried some coffee from Philly’s own La Colombe, you’re seriously missing out! It’s got a unique style that makes it stand apart from any Saxby’s or Starbucks you may have recently done homework in.
Philadelphia Free Library
Location: 1901 Vine St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Philadelphia has an outstanding collection of branches and their main one on the Ben Franklin Parkway is just beautiful. It has nice, quiet study spots and provides great alternatives to screen time and gives your eyes a rest.
Barnes & Noble at Rittenhouse Square
Location: 1805 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Not only is it in a posh location, the Barnes & Noble at Rittenhouse Square has a wonderful café inside and offers some fun spots to curl up with some assigned reading or buckle down on gathering research for a paper. It’s also not frequented by other students so you won’t risk running into the chatty girl from class.
Elixr Coffee Roasters
Location: 207 S Sydenham St., Philadelphia, PA 19102
On a street tucked away from Walnut Street, Elixr is the perfect place to end all of your distractions. It has tables, a lounge and a bar to sit at and when it’s nice, you can sit outside. Their menu isn’t anything like Starbucks, but that’s because all of their coffee is slow roasted and local. Give this place a shot…of espresso…and get that last minute chapter in.
