With graduation and senior trip clouding your mind, its easy to fall off the academic path and fall into the joy of skipping homework for the mall and staying up late watching Netflix instead of finishing your final history paper…the classic symptoms of senioritis. Before you fall deathly ill to this academic virus, prepare yourself to overcome it with these three easy solutions!

1.     Plan Ahead

  • Invest in a wall calendar, preferably in a fun pattern, that lays out your weekly plans. Seeing that you have a final the day your best friend is having her birthday dinner will help you put your tasks into perspective so you can work hard then play hard.
  • Get an agenda and change your life. Your agenda can be your best friend when you’re not at home. Use it to remind yourself of due dates, tests and assignments and cross them off as you go. Put a line through something your completed will give you the tiny spark of encouragement that you need.
  • Reward yourself when you complete something way before it’s due. Finished your English presentation a week in advance? You deserve that fro-yo you’ve been craving or a ticket to the new movie you’ve been dying to see. Put up a reminder on your pinboard so you can keep your eye on the prize while you hit the books.

2. Mute the Distractions

  • Studying is the perfect time to take a break from the drama of social media. Hit “Do Not Disturb” on your phone and press play on classical music. It helps you keep focus so you aren’t tempted to glance at your phone. Jam out to Beethoven on a portable speaker if there’s no one to bother or rock some cute headphones in the library.
  • Always wandering onto Facebook when you should be wondering what caused the French Revolution? Computer apps like Focus Booster create timed intervals for you to complete your work online, which will make your study hours count so you have time to relax afterwards.

3.Don’t Make School a Chore

  • Going to class, coming home, racing to extracurriculars and completing mountains of homework five days a week is a tough job! Make the school day easier by doing something for yourself everyday. Whether it’s reading a chapter of a book just for fun (The Fault in Our Stars, anyone?) or enhancing your culinary edge by making yourself a gourmet lunch every day, you deserve it!
  • Look good, feel good. Channel your inner fashionista or fashionisto and pick out outfits you love wearing and make you feel awesome. The little confidence boost will keep you in the right mindset. You are a senior and have seen your fair share of fashion disasters, so why not set a good example?

With that diploma on its way, there’s no reason to throw away your college career for one more year of partying. Keep your stellar GPA and your social life with these tips.
