Jessimae and Carly from MTV’s Girl Code Visit TCNJ!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

What more would you expect from two of the sassiest, tell-you-how-it-is-to-your-face, hilarious women of MTV’s Girl Code?

When Jessimae Peluso, the sassy, blonde one, Carly Aquilino, the red-headed spitfire and Chris Distefano, the man’s voice of reason, visited TCNJ for the Welcome Back showin January, they held nothing back (including favorite sex positions, most uncomfortable sex stories, and craziest drunk mistakes/wins).

Yes, Carly once handcuffed herself to a NYC guardrail screaming “Dirty girl for life!”

Carly and Chris even discussed their recent break-ups and how they’re dealing with the heartbreak! (Chris is practicing what he calls “Pinot-90X,” where he drinks Pinot Noir all day and then attempts to do P90X). He admits that he learned how to grieve from his mom, so he’s been living off Sutter Home wine, which he refers to as “Old Lady wine.”

In case you’ve never caught the show, it’s basically a how-to-manual on everything female, from puberty to farts to –ahem- more personal things.

Chris, who harnessed his knowledge surrounded by women as a kid, describes his role on the show as “The Guy’s Defense.”

He explains, “I just try to show that we’re not as dumb as we look, and we deserve a chance!”

And to the guys who just don’t get it, he sympathizes and declares, “Join the club! None of us do, just cross your fingers and hope for the best- if not, just pretend you do.”

Jessimae and Carly insist that their favorite things to talk about are vaginas, awkward moments, and awkward moments involving vaginas.

As Chris, who also stars on MTV II’s Guy Code, pointed out, “Guy Code is on at two in the morning- Girl Code is on every channel, at all times, every GOD DAMN day…but it’s fine, it’s fine. I get it…”

The show has been a huge success and girls everywhere have banded together to declare that life is messy, awkward and weird, but it’s all normal- girl code.

Carly and Jessimae have the system down. The jokes roll back and forth between the two of them so quickly it’s almost hard to keep up!

They jokingly shared “We fell in love in a basement…” However, it was the basement of a standup comedy club in New York City, just before the start of Girl Code.

Together, they are the epitome of a dynamic duo, though they admit that not everyone on the show is as close.

Carly explains, “At the end of the day we all love each other,” and though people have their issues, “You can’t have stroganoff without the beef, ya know?”

So why do they think the show has been so successful? What’s the best part of it all?

Jessimae revealed all she hopes is that, “Girls realize that everything you’re going through is normal,” because, after all, “Everyone gets chimples (chin pimples) sometimes!”

Carly explains, “When I was growing up I thought I was such a weirdo (she wore a neon-green poncho to her 8th grade dance). I thought I was so awk and abnormal, but then you realize that sh*t happens everyday, to everyone.”

Their favorite part though, is the fact that nothing is scripted on the show. Whatever comes to their minds about the topics and questions they’re asked, they share.

“They embrace us as individuals. All the awkward moments we share are real, otherwise it wouldn’t be funny,” shares Jessimae, who admits while filming, “I don’t wear pants sometimes.”
