Whether you voted Democrat, Republican, Green, or Libertarian it is a very divisive time in America right now. No matter what side of the political spectrum you fall in, it is vital that you make your opinion heard. Here are a couple of ways that you can make your voice heard loud and clear.

Join a local march!

With the immense success of the Women’s March on Washington, numerous organizations across the nation are preparing marches centered on a variety of causes such as the Science March on Washington and the People’s Climate March. Join a march that parallels your passion and make sure that your voice is heard.

Call your local Congresswoman/man.

Even though Washington may seem worlds away from most of America, a simple call to your local Congresswoman/man to share your ideas and concerns can make a difference. Congresswomen and men are in Washington to represent your ideals; therefore, if you feel like your rights are being infringed upon or you do not feel comfortable in your own town, let them know. They will listen!

Share your feelings on social media platforms.

Social media is a tool that everyone has access to and it quite literally reaches millions and millions of people. If you are a passionate about an issue, use social media to spread awareness and your stance. Learn to ignore individuals who consistently bring you down when you share your posts, because your are entitled to your own opinion.

Write to your local newspaper or college newspaper.

Writing is such an effective way to communicate your ideas. Try writing an article expressing your sentiments and send it to your local newspaper, an online newspaper, or even a news organization that operates out of your undergraduate institution.
