Christmas Decorating For College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Now that Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas spirit is in full-swing! However, why is it that finals and Christmas have to be so close together? *UGH* It’s possible you may not feel as spirited for the holidays at school as you do at home, but decorating for Christmas can be easy wherever you live and I promise it will be a huge mood booster!

Start with a Christmas tree. You can find small desk-top Christmas trees (and ornaments) at any store that sells Christmas decor (Target, Walmart, etc.). My roomates and I decided that since we have a bit more space, we would get a medium size tree! It looks awesome and it’s a staple when decorating for Christmas.

Next it’s time to decorate your door! This is very common for students living on campus to do, so join in and try to deck our your door better than your neighbor’s. Target sells cute Christmas door mats like the one we have – it’s cute, but also serves a purpose in the winter. We also added a stuffed deer head to our door, but you can do anything you’d like!

For your kitchen area – if you have one – the easiest and cheapest way to get spirited for the holidays is with paper plates and napkins that are holiday themed. Dish towels also make a great decoration for a kitchen or sink area – we have a bunch!

For your bed or couch, festive pillows make a great touch. They aren’t necessary, but they are sure to catch an eye and make for extreme comfort!

The rest is really up to you! With whatever space you have, add decorations you have laying around your house at home or that you see out shopping! The best part of decorating is putting a personal spin on it all. Here are some other pictures of little decorations you can find around my dorm!
