Unique Spring Date Ideas

April doesn’t only come with showers, it also comes with some lovely spring weather that should be enjoyed…for two! If your winter cuddle buddy is blossoming into your springtime romance, these fun date ideas will guide you along in the seasons of your relationship!

Picnic on the quad: Do you and your dude have similar lunch breaks between classes? Instead of your usual meet-up at Schine, pack up a fresh, healthy lunch together and lay a blanket down on the quad to eat while enjoying the sunshine! If it’s a nice day in ‘Cuse, odds are there will be plenty of other people hanging out and playing games, giving the quad some really happy and energetic vibes- perfect for a casual date.

Hike/jog outdoors at a local state park: If you are one of those couples who likes to hit the gym together, this is a wonderful option for you two! Spring makes for the best outdoor jogging weather- not too hot, not too cold, but just right. Grab your man and head over to Clark Reservation State Park (10 minute drive from campus) or, Green Lakes State Park (15-20 minute drive from campus). There are some great trails at both locations, as well as, playgrounds, swimming, biking, fishing, boat rentals, etc. You could even combine previously mentioned picnic idea with an afternoon of fun activities at either of these two places.

Mini golf at Fairmount Glen: Who doesn’t love mini golf?! Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf, located a little over 10 minutes away from campus, offers an $11 two hour unlimited play time option at their course. It is fun and silly, while still having some association with sports. You can laugh at how competitive your guy gets, and he can show off his elite athleticism.

Spend an afternoon at Abbott Farms: Embrace the farm gal within by feeding and petting the baby farm animals! Berry picking is not available until June, but the Fish Pond and Greenhouse are open now! Sit by the pond and chat it up with your date, take a stroll through the greenhouse and pick out your favorite plant. Maybe this could lead to another date to plant the flowers together!

Before I Die Wall: Fun AND free! This could either be taken lightly or go down a more serious route. The Before I Die Wall, in my opinion, is one of the coolest things I have heard about in Syracuse. It is a giant chalk wall located on Geddes St., along the sides of the Gear Factory. Pieces of chalk are available in little plant holders on the sidewalk along the wall, and every time it rains, the wall is washed and ready for new messages. Anyone is welcome to write his or her “before I die” wish on the wall. You can either learn something deep about your date, or you can learn something a little more trivial he would like to do for another fun activity you two can potentially do together! After writing your wishes, go grab a coffee or lunch at a nearby restaurant!

Gannon’s Isle Ice Cream: I scream, you scream, your date screams for ice cream! If you and your guy have a weakness for sweets like I do, and you’ve never been to Gannon’s, I don’t know why you are still reading this and not heading over there already. The list of flavors alone will make your mouth water. They have an overwhelming number of flavors you can buy in a cup, cone, milkshake, sundae, or soft serve, with incredible tasty toppings. Throw on your shades and SPF and sit on the benches outside to enjoy your sweet treat together.

Now you have some fun date ideas for you and your boo to embark on this spring season. So, get up and off of your laptop, and go enjoy the warm weather with your special someone! XO
