This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Syracuse chapter.

You’ve seen her on the quad sporting neon Sperry’s and in Chuck’s rocking a snapback. She’s made you laugh while entertaining in the hilarious improv comedy group, Zamboni Revolution, while making blog videos creative enough to attract the infamous BroBible. She’s cooler than me and you…and most likely even your dog. For those of you who have yet to meet this Campus Celeb, here’s a sneak peak into just who exactly is Rachel Samples:

Year: Senior (after kindly reminding me it’s 2014)

Major: Television, Radio and Film

Sorority: Kappa Alpha Theta

Hometown: Wilmington, Delaware

So, Rachel, you’re stuck on a desert island and you only get one social media outlet. Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, which is it gonna be? I think I would ditch the social media and try to make a raft and/or bond with the natives to organize dinner plans.

If Ben & Jerry’s was going to name an ice cream after you, what would it taste like and what would it be named? Fudge Fingers. It would taste like fudge when you lick it off your fingers.

Biggest pet peeve? Male cashiers with long fingernails. Honestly, keep the change.

I have to ask, why all the neon Sperry’s? Growing up, I thought matching meant putting blue with another shade of blue. I think the neon Sperry’s help spruce up an outfit and give a little coordination of color that you couldn’t find with a basic color shoe.

Who would you say is your biggest inspiration? People who can clearly define their passions and then do something about it. Specifically, Ze Frank from Buzzfeed, Tina Fey, my parents and entrepreneurs.

What’s the goal post ‘Cuse? Never stop learning and always stay curious.

Describe yourself in a verb, an adjective, and a noun. Lollygagging golden retriever.

^Because of course.

You’re clearly a huge Syracuse fan, what sparked the interest? I think I just woke up one day and realized I was one of 15,000 people who have that rare blood disease where we only bleed orange. Well, that’s a lie. My doctor told me.

Tell me about working with Zamboni Revolution. I joined Zamboni my sophomore year and have loved it since day one. It’s a huge release from the work week and it’s the best team dynamic that anyone could ask for. Nothing beats performing skits off the word “Frisbee” for two hours with really funny people. Check us out April 4th in Schine Underground when we open for Upright Citizens Brigade!

Auxygen is an amazing project, how would you describe what it’s about? How did you get started with it and what’s it been like for you? Auxygen is all about cross collaboration within a team of so many specialties like architecture, design, film, writing and computer engineering. My friend Pat McGowan asked me to be a part of Auxygen back in August and I’ve been a team member ever since. I love working on the writing and film aspects of our clients’ projects, but I also love contributing input on projects outside my areas of focus. We balance out each other well. Check it out at: http://auxygencreative.com/

Your blog, Fondly an Orangewoman, is really well known on campus. You’re so witty! What made you take up blogging? Thank you for taking the time to read it! I had to make a blog for IST 195 class and I found it very enjoyable to write and update so I decided to keep it going since freshmen year. Syracuse University is easy to make fun of by the way…

How do you come up with ideas for your blog videos? The ideas are usually pretty sporadic but they mostly come from current events on campus. The Peg videos with Megan Marshall came from witnessing her in a Halloween costume with that wig and instantly recognizing the need for a video component.

What’s your favorite blog post or video you’ve made so far? Anything with Peg. Easiest question.

Are you involved with any other organizations on or off campus? I am a member of Zamboni Revolution Improv Group, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, Order of Omega Honors Society and a former OrangeSeeds member. I am also a creative producer at Auxygen.

“Stuff In Our Room”…really cool idea for Instagram, how did you come up with it, and why do it? My roommate and I share a huge room full of knick knacks and tons of hats. We have an addiction when it comes to hats. I thought it would be a cool way to display our “stuff” and give the Kelvin filter a chance.

Where can I find you on a Tuesday night versus a Friday night? Tuesday: getting fro yo when everyone is walking past me to the bars. Friday: Wishing I was getting fro yo as I walk into Chucks with a hat and sneakers on.

Biggest accomplishment at Syracuse so far? Figuring out how to get to Eggers Hall.

Favorite place to be on campus? Newhouse 4…it’s only a matter of time before someone finds out…

What’s your go-to TV show on Netflix or Hulu? I rarely watch TV but I find myself tuning into New Girl pretty regularly.

And there you have it folks. Rachel Samples summarized in ice cream flavors and television shows. Obviously there’s much more to know about this incredibly hardworking and involved girl. Be sure to check out her website and videos while you’re bored in class and should to be paying attention. And if you happen to be one of those bar crawlers on a Tuesday night and you spot a blonde girl in neon pink Sperry’s in Yogurt Land, say hi. If you’re lucky she may even give you an autograph….
