As students in college, we can all admit to being eager to know what will happen to us upon graduation and how we’ll get our foot in the door in the professional world. But Nate Shron, a senior Business major at the Whitman School of Management here at Syracuse University, has already started just that. I had the opportunity to sit down with Nate and discuss the up-and-coming Category 5 Company that has introduced customizable boat shoes to campuses across the country. READ MORE

Healthy Food to Keep in your Dorm Room

By Nicole Harris
October 13, 2012 - 5:21pm

Let’s face it: eating healthy in college is nearly impossible. With the all-you-can-eat buffets at the dining halls, restaurants that line Marshall Street and various cafes around campus, it’s easy to see how the “Freshman 15” is a very likely possibility. The excessive eating doesn’t stop when students return to their dorms, which are often stocked with foods that are good for the budget but bad for the body. However, eating well at college doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. Here are some ideas of healthy foods to keep in your dorm room: READ MORE

Here are a few of my playlists that get me through almost any mood I’m in or any type of day I’m having. READ MORE

University Union screens movies -- for free!

By Taylor Grant
October 8, 2012 - 12:00pm

SU’s University Union is best known for it’s big-name concerts like Juice Jam and Block Party, but the organization works to schedule more frequent events to keep students entertained all year long. UU screens popular and new-release movies just every weekend and even pre-screens films like Pitch Perfect once a year to give students a sneak peek of upcoming releases. If you’re like me and don’t have a car on campus, you know how much of a pain it is to coordinate a ride to Destiny USA to see a movie. UU shows films on main campus at HBC and on south campus at Goldstein, so transportation is never an issue. These events are a great option for those who need a night off from partying or for students who would rather just stay in. Best of all, every film...

Winter Boot Wish List

By Rebecca J. Shafer
October 7, 2012 - 2:30pm

It’s almost that time again – time to pack up the Sperry’s and sandals and break out the winter boots. I’ll admit that I surely plan to continue wearing my combat boots and lace-ups that I’ve already broken out for fall. However, once the snow starts falling and the colder months of Syracuse are upon us, appropriate footwear will become drastically important. When you’re trekking through feet of fluffy white snow to get to class, you’ll be thankful you bought a cute pair of duck boots. This fur-lined pair from Juicy Couture is cute, yet functional. I have a pair similar to this and they’ve definitely been one of my best purchases for the snowy months at Syracuse – of which we all know there are many. READ...

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: What Men Really Think of Women’s Fashion

By Heather Siemienas
October 4, 2012 - 12:43pm

Female-friendly magazines like People, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour bombard its viewers with images of the latest women’s fashions: celebrities sporting designer trends, models “dressed to the nines” walking the runway during fashion week, and flashy advertisements of popular stores’ newest apparel. As a previous full-time employee of top retail chain Nordstrom, I often heard interesting comments from costumers when more “fashion forward” merchandise began to flood our sales floors; but the most interesting and sometimes comedic comments, I found, were from male shoppers viewing female fashions. No Escape from Royal Pains

By Charlotte Lipman
October 2, 2012 - 2:56pm

On Friday, the world (literally, the world) was abuzz over photos of Kate Middleton, duchess of Cambridge, sunbathing topless while on holiday in Provence. Since then the royal scandal has graced the headlines of many, if not most tabloids. Papers in France, Ireland and Italy have published the photos incensing the House of Windsor and necessitating a reading of any and all privacy laws across Europe.
As royal reps demand that France’s Closer hand over the files of pictures that they currently possess, the duchess and Prince William are touring the South Seas, dancing festively in Tuvalu and “smiling through scandal.” READ MORE

Should I Buy an iPhone 4s or Wait for the iPhone 5?

By Jingnan Li
September 26, 2012 - 11:59am

The iPhone 5 broke the record of any pre-order online sales in the first week USA Today reported. The official release date is September 21st. The biggest concern about iPhone 5 is the bigger screen. Is it worth the pain to wait in line to get the new phone or just get an iPhone 4s? Here is the comparison between iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s. Love:
1. Bigger screen
Screen size is changed from 3.5 inch to 4 inch, which makes users will enjoy bigger touch screen to read, watch wide screen films or play games. It also supplies more rooms to display apps. 2. Much thinner
The iPhone 5 is reduced into 7.6 mm thick, compared with iphone 4s 9.3mm. It also makes it lighter from 4.9 ounces into 3.95 ounces....
