10 Halloween Makeup Ideas for When Actual Costumes Are Too Much Effort

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Susqu chapter.

Anything Galaxy

It is such a simple, easy look that even if you don’t want to do too much for Halloween, you can throw on an all-black outfit and still look like a star. It’s also versatile. I’ve seen people do Galaxy tears, a galaxy Girl look, super glittery galaxy makeup. You name it, you can do it.

Pop Art Makeup

I’m obsessed with these pop art makeup looks. Whether you channel Roy Lichtenstein with his benday dots and famous Drowning Girl style or you channel Andy Warhol with bright vibrant colors and defined black lines, you will rock Halloween.

Deer or Woodland Creature

What’s popular right now is the woodland deer makeup or any variation of a woodland creature. I’ve seen foxes, deer, rabbits. It’s cute, simple and stunning. If you have black liner, a good contour palette and either white liner or a shadow stick in white, you can accomplish these looks easily.

Stitches

This could be really cool if you get super creative with it. With stitches you could do some cool wounds, a stitched doll, the bride of Frankenstein. Get creative with this one.

Holographic

The trend in fashion lately, like at Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe, is holographic anything and everything. Now I am absolutely IN LOVE with all things highlighter so this holographic look has been sent down from the Highlighter Gods, to us wrapped in the most perfect glittery bow. I don’t know about you guys, but I might try this.

Big Cats

Lions, Tigers and Cheetahs, OH MY! Embrace the tans, whites, oranges and blacks of all the big cats. Channel your inner Katy Perry and Roar. Pair with a ten outfit or mix with some browns, blacks or white’s to fully embrace your inner Fierce Feline.

Super Hero Women

Who’s your favorite super hero? DC or Marvel? Do a makeup look based off of them. There’s been looks for Wonder Woman, Spider Man, Bat Man and plenty of She-Hulks walking around. Channel your inner super crime fighter.

Pixalated Face

Remember the movie on Disney Channel, Pixel Perfect, it stars Phil Of the Future (rewatch it sometime and reminisce). Well, now you too can enter the digital age and be…blurry. This would be a good look to use all those foundations you own, that weren’t exactly your right color. Now then can be used!

Anything Rainbow

From unicorns to rainbow tears, it’s on the internet and you can do it. Put to use the colors you don’t use every day. Use rainbow highlighter! Be bright, colorful and happy! Maybe be a double rainbow! It’s just so beautiful.

Siren Makeup

The mermaid look has been going around for a few years now and now it’s expected to see at least one or four mermaids at a Halloween party. Let’s darken her up. Lets give her a little bit more of a story. Use your silvers, dark greens and metallic Icey blue mixed with blacks and look so hauntingly beautiful that just one look will lore sailors from their ships.
