How to Rock Denim on Denim

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

Caution: Denim on denim is very dangerous. It takes skill to pull off the “Canadian tuxedo. “ However, I have seen it work before and if its done right, it actually looks really cool. Follow these tips so you don’t end up in fashion jail, (like Britney and Justin did in the picture above. Ew.)

Tip1 : The best way to avoid looking like a denim blob is wearing two very different shades. Try a deep indigo paired with a lighter wash.  Also pairing a looser shirt ith skinny jeans or a tighter shirt with flowier bottoms really adds more style to your look.

Tip 2: Another way to make the double denim look succeed is by working a pattern pair of jeans into the mix.

Tip 3: Throw a blazer, jacket or sweater over a chambray shirt to break the denim up a bit.

Tip 4: Confidence is key. If you  have the mindset that you own it, you will own it . You know when you look at someone and say “Only they can pull that off.” It’s because they have the confidence in their outfit and just know they are killing it. Don’t be afraid to take some risks! Just please don’t end up looking like this…
