Beauty Blog: How to Incorporate Orchid into Your Look

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

With new spring fashion comes new spring make-up looks. This spring, try the color of the year: orchid! This color, a mix of purple, pink, and fuchsia undertones, is flattering on everyone, and a perfect color to warm up your complexion after the cold winter months. There are tons of products to choose from. You can try it as an eyeshadow, blush, gloss, or lipstick. Here are my top picks:

1) BareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 in Dream Sequence – $30

BareMinerals is one of my favorite makeup brands out there. They use quality ingredients, and you get great products for a fair price. What I love about these eyeshadow palettes is that you can use one or two colors, or all four to create a gorgeous look. These eyeshadows go on smoothly, the colors are vibrant, and it lasts for hours.

For an easy look, apply 500 Thread Count on top of the brow bone. Next, take Boudoir, and pat it all over the eyelid, up to the crease. After that, use Nightcap to define your outer crease and then to line your top and bottom lashes. Then, take Romp and pat it on your lower lashes. See the full video tutorial here:

2) MAC Lipstick in Snapdragon, $16

MAC’s line of orchid color products called, A Fantasy of Flowers, offers any beauty lover the choices of eyeliners, lipsticks, glosses, and more. Snapdragon is a playful colorthat’s perfect for spring! If you want something more vibrant, try Heavenly Hybrid ($16), or for something a bit more subdued, try Rose Lily ($16).

3) Butter London Nail Lacquer in Molly Coddled: $15

If you want to try out the orchid trend but aren’t sure if you want to try a bold makeup trend, then nail polish is perfect! This rich color is more lilac than orchid, but still on trend. The formula is designed to be more chip resistant; lasting longer than your average manicure. Fashion and beauty queen Lauren Conrad swears by this brand, and if there’s anyone’s opinion I’m trusting, it’s LC’s.

4) Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Delinquent– $20

Another favorite brand of mine, Urban Decay’s Glide-On Eye Pencils are creamy and powerful, and provide long-lasting color. If you want a smoky eye look, these pencils are easily smudgable. Delinquent is a dark purple color, with light purple sparkles, perfect for a night out!

5) Becca Beach Tint in Watermelon– $25

This tint doubles as a cheek and lip stain, and gives you a hint of natural looking color. It’s made with Vitamin E to soothe skin, and the formula is water-resistant. There is also a subtle, fruity scent for each color. The Watermelon tint comes off as a bright pink, so a little goes a long way!
