I Love Stony Brook University Because of Krispy Kreme

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

The first time I bit into a cream-filled donut from Krispy Kreme, I just about fell over in ecstasy, and I was sitting in a chair, so that’s kind of a big deal. My classmate in German 211 was selling them to fundraise for a club she was a part of and my professor (who is awesome for doing this as well as for other non-donut-related reasons) bought enough to treat the entire class. Since then, I’ve been on the hunt for them, because Krispy Kreme only has one store in New York, which is in the city, which is not worth getting on a train exclusively for, which is why I’m donut-deprived and manic, which is why I’m writing about my love for Krispy Kreme right now.

Stony Brook University was my gateway into the wonderful world of cream-filled donut deliciousness. It’s both a blessing and a curse to have tasted such perfection and be so far away from it, but thankfully, fundraising through the company is super popular, especially on campus. It’s like our school is trying to trap us; Krispy Kreme is everywhere. I met up with my friend in the Humanities atrium so we could pack up and head home. Lo and behold, across the room, we spotted piles and piles of heaven: Krispy Kreme boxes, waiting for us to cave in and throw our money at them.

“Do you think they’re selling them?” I asked my friend, who was gazing longingly at the boxes.

“They might be. Ask them!”

“No, you ask them! …do you think they take Venmo?”

In the end, we ended up buying a box and splitting the donuts between us.

It was great, thanks for asking!

I know what you’re thinking: Who the heck is this girl, talking about Krispy Kreme? Stony Brook has so much more than donut fundraisers that make it great!

You’re absolutely right! SBU has so much more than that. For example, the two new residence halls, Chávez and Tubman, are sure to have a suite large enough to house my stash of Krispy Kremes. We have Roth Regatta, our annual boat race, which very recently won us the 2017 “Best Campus Tradition” award from the National Association for Campus Activities. I hope the theme will one day be Krispy Kreme. All of the boats will have a mandatory supply of donuts, which I will eat vigorously in front of everyone and win by default.

As you can see, SBU has shown me the light. Living a Krispy Kreme life. If there’s any reason to become a Seawolf, it’s the perk of being surrounded by all the donut-filled fundraisers!

What’s a Seawolf?

I’m a Seawolf, full of creamy donut goodness!
