10 Reasons to Look Forward to Valentine’s Day Even If You’re Single AF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

It’s that time of the year again: the time when everyone Googles ‘cute Valentine’s Day date ideas’ and places extravagant flower and chocolate orders for their S/O’s. Well, everyone except you, that is. Valentine’s Day is also great for celebrating your relationships with friends and family, but it’s still sometimes easy to feel like you don’t have a place on this day if you don’t have any romantic relationships. This year, be sure to watch out for these things that’ll make you psyched for February 14th.

1. Discounted Chocolates

This is usually the day after Valentine’s Day because stores are trying to get rid of the chocolates they didn’t sell, but I don’t think anyone’s complaining. Half-priced chocolate is good any day of the year!

2. Jewelry SalesNow’s probably a good time to get yourself that necklace you’ve been eyeing in the store. And maybe that bracelet with your initials on it, and that cute heart-shaped birthstone ring.

3. Getting the Room to Yourself if Your Roommate Goes on a Date

Let’s be real here. You love your roommate to death but everyone likes being by themselves sometimes.

4. All the Sassy T-Shirts that Describe Being Single So WellIf you don’t already have one, are you even celebrating Valentine’s Day right?? Though, it’s pretty hard to want just one of these hilarious shirts.

5. Picking up the Latest Romantic BestsellerA chilly February evening is the perfect time to cuddle up with a good book. If you’re looking for a new read, check out new Valentine’s Day releases like.

6. Not Feeling Bad for Treating Yourself Extra SpecialBecause why the hell not? It’s great to treat yourself regularly (even if it’s just the small things) but don’t be afraid to really go all out here. No one can love you like you do!

7. All the Yummy Valentine’s Day-Themed Goodies on PinterestThis is the best excuse to go crazy with red and pink food coloring. How can you not be excited? There are so many treats to drool over.

8. Valentine’s Day Makeup Collections

If you’re a beauty junkie like me, you’re probably looking forward to picking up eyeshadow palettes of fun shades of red and pink and new shades of lipstick. Bonus points if you do Valentine’s Day-themed nail art!

9. Date Night Makeup Tutorials on YouTube

After you come back with a bag full of new makeup, you’ll probably watch Valentine’s Day makeup tutorials on YouTube for inspiration. And even if you don’t plan to do any makeup, these videos are still so mesmerizing!

10. Galentine’s DayHave you planned out the perfect Galentine’s Day yet? Some cool suggestions are cooking breakfast together, having a dorm room spa day and going out to dinner.
