Laura Bilotti '14By October 19, 2012 - 7:46pm Junior Laura Bilotti helped out at this year’s Out of the Darkness Walk here at Stonehill College. The event was to help raise awareness about suicide. Laura filled us in with more details of the walk and how you can get involved in the future! What were the main goals of the suicide prevention walk? The goals of the Out of the Darkness walk were to raise awareness about such a sensitive issue [suicide] and to come together as a community like we did last year, but in a more positive light. Marissa Beaudoin '14By September 18, 2012 - 8:00am Junior Marissa Beaudoin is this year’s president of Autism Speaks U at Stonehill! We recently caught up with her to learn what’s new with the club this year and how you can get involved! What are some of the goals of Autism Speaks U this semester? We are trying to increase awareness on campus, also we are trying to increase member participation because the more people involved the more people will understand what Autism Speaks is about. Our main goal though is to fundraise enough money as possible, which will be put towards to scientific research, and programs that help those with autism. READ MORE |

Madeline Mahony '13By May 4, 2012 - 1:15pm Madeline Mahony is a junior at Stonehill College whose volunteer work and participation with this year’s Relay for Life makes her this week’s campus celebrity. This dedicated and devoted student studied abroad in Ireland last semester, but once she returned to Stonehill she immersed herself in the preparation for events on campus. Madeline embodies a hardworking, involved, and enthusiastic Stonehill student whose commitment to volunteer work is admirable to say the least. James Dunn '14By April 27, 2012 - 3:23pm Our campus celebrity this week has won first prize of the most anticipated community activity of the year; Shark Attack. According to the winner, sophomore history major James Dunn, “Shark Attack is a game that requires people to stalk and attack people they don’t know in creepy places and be paranoid everywhere they go for an entire week”. Don’t let this language scare you, the game is played by “shooting” your intended target with water from a shark-shaped water gun. The “stalking” aspect comes into play when participants are unaware of what their opponent looks like, and must resort to Facebook, or simply asking people on campus. READ MORE |

Deanna D'ambrosio '12, Meredith Montinieri '12, Kim Nihon '12By April 6, 2012 - 1:00pm This week, things are different on Stonehill's Campus Celebrity page! Instead of one celeb, we have 3! The dance team will be competing in Nationals next week in Daytona, Florida. The captains of Stonehill's award-winning dance team are three amazing senior girls who have such a passion for not only dance, but their team dyanmic. After losing five seniors last year, the team was ready for some fresh new talent to fill those big shoes, which, according to the captains, were filled by adding two freshman and a sophomore to the team. Last year, the team advanced the farthest in team history, advancing to finals and ultimatley placing 5th. This year, the team will face 9 teams in Division II in Daytona. ... |

Kelsey ReillyBy March 21, 2012 - 11:24pm Kelsey Reilly is a well known a student athlete at Stonehill College. This year alone, Kelsey has received multiple academic awards, such as the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and theNE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Last year, she was selected as a first team All-American. If that isn’t enough, Kelsey also serves as the lacrosse team's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative. Despite her busy schedule, Kelsey has managed to find time to fight a cause she cares deeply about. This year Kelsey has encouraged her fellow students to sign a no tanning pledge. READ MORE |

Hannah ArsenaultBy March 2, 2012 - 10:46am Even though Easton is far away from her native Minnesota, Hannah Arsenault has no trouble finding her "center" at Stonehill College. Major - Spanish/Business Year of Graduation - 2015 How did you first get involved with yoga? About 5 years ago a yoga studio was built near my house in Minnesota, and I decided to try it out for the fitness benefits. One of the gurus at the studio ended up taking a special interest in me, and with her encouragement I started attending class every day. I essentially fell in love with the concept of mind-body connection and how relaxed and at peace I felt after practicing. I began teaching yoga as a way to share that feeling with others. READ MORE |
