Hey Hatters, get your brooms out! It’s time for a sweep! The 2012 baseball season opens Friday night, 6:30 pm, against George Washington. This series will continue Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 1pm. This Stetson Baseball season stars a veteran team including 11 seniors. Also, theteam returns pitchers that threw for 42 of 43 victories in 2011. This includes Lindsey Caughel who was drafted by Baltimore last summer and Tucker Donahue who was drafted by Texas. Both stand-out pitchers have decided to return for senior year. The hatters start off the season polled to win the A-Sun Conference, and at the start of the season ranked 31st by the NCBWA nationally; after ending with a 43-20 overall record last season, as well as 23-7 conference record. The 2011 season ended in South Carolina, with Stetson’s 17th all-time NCAA Regional appearance. The 2011 season earned well deserved hype, (remember beating FSU in the 11innings at their home field, or sweeping UGA our opening home series last year) and the 2012 Stetson baseball fans are screaming “We demand more!”
