Stay on the Sunny Side of Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stetson chapter.

Who’s ready for spring break?! I’m pretty sure we’ve all been counting down the days since we got back to school. No one wants to be stuck in the classroom listening to another boring lecture when there’s beautiful summer weather outside that we could be enjoying. Whether you’re going home to relax or going to PCB and getting wild, her are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Have a carefree attitude – you should have no worries about “real life.” Don’t be a party pooper, but go with the flow!

2. If you’re not completely able to let go of your responsibilities, at least take a mini vacation. An afternoon at the beach or a day at the pool is all you need to forget about any other    obligations for a short period of time.

3. One word: mimosas! What better way to start your day?!

4. Speaking of drinks… you can never have enough fruity drinks on a hot summer day! Bring on the piña coladas, margaritas, and cocktails! Lemonade with a little twist is also a solid way to go.

5. Be in the sun as much as possible – if you don’t have anything else to do, we better not find out that you’ve been cooped up in your room all week watching TV marathons and old movies. This is the time to take advantage of the weather and get your tan on!

6. If you don’t live close enough to the beach or have a pool, you should go to the park, take a walk, or set up a picnic with your friends. If you’re planning on getting wild during spring break, having one or two peaceful, relaxing afternoons there would be a good change from raging. One of my favorite things is lying in the hammock at night when the sun is going down.

7. Always have your bathing suit on during the day! Besides summer, this is the only time that you have an excuse to wear no clothes. Unless you’ve gone back home up north, everyone in Florida should be soaking up the sun at all times. You never know when you’re going to get the chance to get a few extra minutes under the sun.

8. At the end of break, make sure you’re not heading back to school with nothing accomplished. Yes, this is the time to let loose and have a wild spring break, but no one wants to go back to school worrying about all they work they have to catch up on. Get a handful of homework done so you’re not freaking out when you get back (preferably before you’ve started drinking). But don’t fret over your school work during the entire break!

Last but not least – do something that you can brag about when you get back to school! Everyone will be comparing stories about what they did and you’ll want to have the best one. The hourly countdown to spring break has begun! Don’t get too wild!
