Meet our Future CC Ashley Krause

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Vincent chapter.

Name: Ashley Krause

Hometown: Uniontown, PA

Class: Sophomore

Major: Biology

As our current Campus Correspondent is graduating in May, we knew there were some big shoes to be filled. Our current Campus Correspondent, Juli, with the help of our Vice President, Maggie, hosted an extensive application process which included interviews to fill not only the position of the Campus Correspondent but also a new executive board! Juli and Maggie were insanely impressed with the applicant’s passion for the mission of Her Campus and their creative ideas to grow our chapter.

With five great applicants, we knew that Her Campus would be in good hands for the upcoming years. Paying close attention to each of their unique interests and talents, we feel that the board will be able to shine like never before!

I would like to introduce you to our Campus Correspondent for the 2018-2020 terms. Meet Ashley Krause! Ashley has been gracious enough to let us interview her AGAIN to find out some super cool facts about her.

Her Campus (HC): Hi Ash! Thanks for letting us interview you for our profile spotlight of the week! Let’s get this started with asking you to describe yourself in just three sentences!

Ashley Krause (AK): I’m a very social person – talking to people is my fav and I LOVE to make others smile. Saint Vincent is my second home; I love being involved on this campus and I’m excited to be in the position to promote something so positive for the lovely ladies I share it with. After my four years here, I will move on to another six years of attending dental school and specializing in orthodontics.

HC: If you could have your own “brand” what would be the motto? What kind of “brand” would it be?

AK: If I was the proprietor of my own brand, I would want it to center around spreading kindness and empowering young women. A lot of girls in this generation have become too quick to judge. It seems like instead of being proud of their peers, girls get jealous toward other’s achievements. I’m passionate about putting an end to this and spreading universal kindness. We all just want to be accepted and to pursue our dreams without judgement. Being put down, puts a hold on the embrace of one’s true potential. If I could, I totally would create a brand to back up the motto “make happiness happen.” It’s so easy to spread positivity, yet so easily neglected. For young girls especially, hearing uplifting comments from others can turn their whole day around and give them the confidence they need to achieve their dreams. My brand would most likely use social media as a platform to promote events that encourage young women to respect/support each other and to remind them that anything is possible.

HC: Why did you choose to get involved in Her Campus? (Other than knowing how awesome it is to be a member)

AK: I had followed Her Campus on social media since before I came to SVC, so I would always see the awesome posts and from then, I knew I wanted to get involved. I also joined because I loved to write. I’m a science major, so I don’t get too many opportunities to write creatively anymore. I wanted to have a place to share my thoughts as well as get more involved on campus while spending time with a great group of girls. Little did I know how big of an impact joining HC would have on me!

HC: If you could go on a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?

AK: Croatia! I have always wanted to visit there because it is absolutely stunning. The scenery is breathtaking in photos; I can’t imagine what it would be like to experience it in person!

HC: Name the top women in your life and why they’re there!

AK: The top women in my life are definitely my mom and my grandma. My mom has so much strength – something I’ve always admired about her. She has been through so much in her life and still wears a smile. She has been my go-to since day 1 and I know I can count on her for anything. She raised me essentially all on her own and has gotten me to where I am today. My mom has been and always will be a superstar in my eyes. Now, my grandma: she’s a warrior. She has battled cancer twice in 4 years and came out on top. She has been in remission now since September of 2016! Watching her overcome this setback made me admire her even more than I had before. The positive attitude she upheld throughout her treatment inspired me so much and I wouldn’t trade the relationship I have with her for anything in this world.

I hope you all got to know Ashley a little better! Want to be even better friends? Join our chapter to hang out with awesome girls like Ashley all the time!

St Vincent '18

Hello there! I am the Campus Correspondent of the Her Campus chapter at Saint Vincent College. As a senior psychology major, I've made the most of my time in undergrad and am excited for all the doors I have opening ahead of me. I can definitely thank Her Campus for giving me invaluable skills. As a future psychologist, I hope that my articles (and the chapter's) are able to make you feel empowered, motivate you to start a conversation, and be kind. As a hero of mine has said, "If you do not take control over your time and your life, other people will gobble it up. If you don't prioritize yourself, you constantly start falling lower and lower on your list."- Michelle Obama. Be the change you want to see in the world, and smile. Always smile!
