Last weekend I went owl banding with a group of St. Olaf students and professors. We caught them in a net and then took them inside to weigh them, measure them, determine their age, and put a band on their ankle (which you can seen in the picture) to identify them if anyone else should catch them. These Saw Whet owls were adrorably small and soft and we even got them to sit on our shoulders before we released them! Professor Steve Freedburg leads a handful of these trips every fall and I would highly recommend them!
