I don’t know about you, but I LOVE strong female characters in television series, books, and films. Since strong and amazing characters should always be recognized, here are nine fictional female characters to inspire you, this week!
1.) Olivia Benson // Law & Order SVU
Not only does Olivia hold the rank of Lieutenant and is the Commanding Officer of the Manhattan Special Victims Unit, she also goes undercover, saved and adopted an amazing son, and inspires women throughout New York with her work with victims and the community.
2.) Leslie Knope // Parks & Recreation
Leslie is a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana. She hopes to advance her career and improve her town through her active role in the community while she also works towards her goal of becoming the first female President.
3.) Fa Mulan // Mulan
Mulan is intelligent, independent, and isn’t afraid to go against social expectations. Unlike other Disney princesses, Mulan doesn’t need rescuing from a male figure. Instead, Mulan saves China.
4.) Elizabeth Swann // Pirates of the Caribbean
Princess turned pirate, Elizabeth recognizes all the amazing skills she has while on sea. She’s a natural leader, quick learner of battle skills (like swordsmanship) and defends herself, and isn’t afraid to show everyone who is boss.
5.) Molly Weasley // Harry Potter
Molly is a loving mother who cares so very much. She is fierce, protective, organized, and skilled in all things in the maternal world. Not only does she love her family, but she accepts others into her home like they’re also her family. Let’s not forget that Molly truly fights what for she believes in and lives her life to the fullest with what she has.
6.) Hermione Granger // Harry Potter
Hermione is intellectual, sensible, and logical. Though some think she can be rather bossy, Hermione simply knows what is best for her and her friends. When Hermione has a task, you can bet that it will be finished before it’s due, and better than anyone could ever imagine.
7.) Jane Villanueva // Jane the Virgin
Jane is a smart, kind, and goal-oriented woman who dreams of becoming a writer. She grew up with only females, her young mother and her abuela, and is very family oriented. Though she loves to daydream, Jane is incredibly organized and detailed when it comes to planning her life.
8.) Rachel Berry // Glee
Rachel is a natural born star. She is an original member of the William McKinley High School New Directions, loves all things Broadway, and isn’t afraid to be herself. She fights to get what she wants and always does anything and everything in her power to get to her end goal.
9.) Mia Thermopolis // The Princess Diaries
Mia is a sarcastic, artistic, and unapologetically unique individual. She loves cat, her mother, her best friend Lilly, and is perfectly content with her life. When she finds out that she is royal blood, Mia’s life turns upside down and she takes her new responsibility as a future princess into her own hands.
