Hey Oles! With only a few more days to go, we’ve all got summer on the mind- and with summer comes lots of great new shows to watch! (Not to mention the time to watch them…) Here are a couple of series that will be returning, as well as some new ones for you to check out. Enjoy!
1. The Bachelorette
Ok, so this might be more like a guilty pleasure, but after the tumultuous last season of The Bachelor, we’re excited to see some fresh faces on the show. Andi Dorfman, the sassy Assistant District Attorney from Atlanta who notoriously dumped Juan Pablo after her night with him in the fantasy suite, will be returning as the Bachelorette for season ten. Her quick wit made her a fan favorite on The Bachelor, but will she be able to settle for any of the men in the Bachelor mansion?
2. So You Think You Can Dance
The ultimate competition to become America’s favorite dancer will resume this summer, with Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy returning as the two permanent judges. Cat Deeley will continue her hosting duties as the team travels across the nation searching for the best talent. Two guest judges for auditions have already been revealed- Christina Aguilera and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, of the hit dance flick Step Up, were both on hand to provide their expertise. With an incredible judging panel and a history of amazing performances, this season is sure to be one of the best yet!
3. America’s Next Top Model
This summer is all about the reality TV competitions, and America’s Next Top Model will be returning on The CW for its 21st cycle. Runway coach J. Alexander will come back to the show, replacing former judge Rob Evans, and photographer Yu Tsai will be stepping in for creative director Johnny Wujek on the judging panel. The theme for this cycle is an extension of cycle twenty- Guys & Girls 2. Both men and women will be battling it out for the coveted title of Top Model, as well as a modeling contract with Next Model Management, a spread in Nylon Magazine, and a $100,000 Guess campaign.
4. The Leftovers
Directed by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, this new HBO drama series follows the lives of people in a suburban community who try to deal with the abrupt disappearance of 2% of the world’s population. With family members missing and almost no leads, the community begins to crumble under the tension of being left behind. Starring Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman, this thrilling new show is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat.
5. Crossbones
Starring John Malkovich, Crossbones follows the life of pirate Edward “Blackbeard” Teach as he wreaks havoc in the Bahamas. Judging from the series trailer, this new NBC drama looks similar to Pirates of the Caribbean, minus the humour. If you are a fan of Doctor Who, consider tuning in. Neil Cross, the creator of Crossbones, is credited for writing the British hit series.
