Meet August (Gus) Rothchild Bruggeman (what a name, right?)

Major: Political Science, Middle Eastern Studies Concentration

Graduating Year: 2015

Post-grad plans: Travel/live abroad for a while—France would be neat!

Any senior spring break plans?: Hopefully roadtrip to the East Coast and visit my brother in New York City, but I think Henry Raether has ruined this plan. Currently on the market for anyone in need.

What is your favorite thing about St. Olaf?: The friendly, laid back vibes and quiet campus.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?: Breath underwater (aka have gills) and have webbed toes (think Harry Potter in Goblet of Fire). Love the water, HATE the seafood.

What has been your proudest accomplishment thus far?: Studying abroad in the Middle East.

Favorite sport to watch?: Soccer, because I follow it closest and it’s something I can share and enjoy with my friends.

If you could be BFFs with any celebrity, who would it be and why?: Emile Hirsch and Jake Gyllenhaal seem like good dudes and because of their movie part selections.

If you were stranded on an island and you could only be with one person from Olaf, who would you choose?: Eric Frank ’17 — coolest head on campus.

What has been your most memorable class and/or Prof at Olaf?:  Favorite class: History of Modern Political Thought. Favorite Prof: Dolores Peters: despite landing bad grades in both classes, her passion and work in French history sparked my own interest in the field.
