  1. Find a cool study space

Go outside your comfort zone! Explore areas of campus that are pumped with AC- you’ll find great people watching while you beat the heat! (Hint: The new science building, the Noble center, and the gym are all great places to cool off!)

2. Workout clothes are your friends!

Built for the sweatier-you, sports clothes at this time of year are optimal. Grab your lulu, your athleta and even your comfy t-shirt from that summer camp you went to three years ago. You’ll be comfier, cooler, and no one will care what you’re wearing.

3. FOOD!

If you are doing everything you can to stay cool, now is probably not the time to be getting hearty soups and greasy burgers at Dana. Hit up the salad bar! Light, fresh foods will keep you from perspiring longer and will feel a lot better.

If you or your friend has a car, consider hitting up P-Chop! Price Chopper is right down the road, and you can get watermelon, cool drinks, and nice fresh veggies to cool you off. You can also hit up the Pub and grab a smoothie or iced coffee. At this time of year, Ben and Jerry are your best friends.

4. Explore off campus

While we are all complaining about the heat now, in a few short months we will be bundled in our Patagonias wishing it was summer again. Take the opportunity to explore North Country before the snow comes! There are many places to swim in and around Canton. Our favorite is where Raft Day was held, and if you don’t know where that is, here’s a map! (Our favorite spot is right where the “Route 27” marker is on this map!)

5. Do. Not. Wear. Jeans. When. You. Go. Out.

Rompers and dresses and shorts are “in” for a reason. Functionality! Do yourself a major favor and hold off on the jeans till the temps hit the 50’s. Trust me, we have months of jean weather ahead of us. You will be just as cute and glam and much less sweaty without heavy jean hugging your legs!

6. FIND A FAN.

Whether you are in Beta or the Suites or even a Townhouse, fans will always be your friends. Grab your girlfriends, grab a fan, and stay put. Trust me, you’d rather be cool and having fun than melting in a puddle on the dancefloor.

7. Give yourself enough time to get to class.

As hard as it is to get out of bed in the morning, you are saving yourself a sweat-soaked t-shirt if you get up and go a little bit earlier. You do not want to be sprinting up the stairs of Richardson or Carnegie 2 minutes before class starts. The fans will be taken, and you will be frazzled in the back corner of the room trying to collect yourself.

8. Invest in a water bottle

All aboard hydration station! You’ll have an easier time in class, your skin will glow, and you will help yourself defeat the heat. It’s basically magic juice, and remind yourself that you can’t get enough of it.

9. Shower after you go out

Even if it’s late, it’s worth it. Frat-sweat on your sheets is not a good look (or smell).

10. Don’t judge your fellow ladies!

We’re all out there sweatin’, girls. If you see a gal having a hot and sweaty time, live and let live! Offer her some ice cubes and maybe even a towel to blot herself with. It’s a cutthroat world out there, stay friendly and stay cool!
