George Willis is International Student from a small town called Kettering in England, which is about 80 miles outside of London. George is 20 years old and began his first year here this past January. He plans to major in Economics and is a member of the Men’s Varsity Squash Team. George is ranked seventh in England in U-19 Squash and number 10 in Europe!
How did you find out about SLU? The squash program is one of the best in the country, I heard about that and did a bit of research on the school and loved what I saw!
What’s your favorite home cooked meal? My mum’s home cooked chicken pasta bake.
What’s one thing you miss about home? I miss my dogs, I’ve got two and I miss them both sooo much!
What do you love about America? The enthusiasm! Everyone over here is enthusiastic about absolutely everything! It’s great!
What helped you adjust to SLU? I’m part of the squash team and it’s the first team I’ve really ever been in with a bond like this. Everyone in the team is family to me, since being here they’ve looked after me, given me advice about what I should and shouldn’t do and got me out of trouble a couple times! I’ve been here for 3 and a half months and it’s safe to say that the reason why I already feel like this place is my home already, is because of these people, no words can describe how thankful I am but if they read this, then thankyou guys, love you all…
Do you have any advice for new incoming international students? Advice for new people would be to enjoy every day! Enjoy the company of the people around you and don’t get too stressed out about work. This is the best four years of your life so live it up!
