DIY Halloween Costume Ideas

    Even if you don’t think of yourself as particularly creative or savvy with crafting materials, a DIY Halloween costume can be perfect when you’re short on time or money. Plus, getting together with friends to figure out the best Halloween getup is great opportunity for some female bonding! Just in case you don’t want to be stuck doing another “Risky Business” costume this year; here are a few ideas for the perfect group DIY costume. The requirements: a little creative thinking, a Google search, and some friends to help you out.

  • This group “Shark Week” costume is not something you’ll see at every Halloween party, and it’s great because you’ll get to include at least 7 people (you could always add other friends in as extra sharks, or even fishermen, if you have a bigger group). This is also a great option if you have to come up with something last minute, because Walmart and Family Dollar are close by and great for getting cheap supplies the day of.

  • All the Wizard of Oz characters can be made into costumes super easily (and maybe you’ll even have enough people to add Toto to the mix). You can use clothes you already have (dresses, sweaters, leggings), which is the best part.

Most of us own a black leather jacket and a pair of black skinny jeans, so all you’d need to add would be a few twists from a curling iron and an unlit cigarette. As for the Gatsby look, throw on your favorite LBD, a touch of red lipstick, and some faux pearls and you’re ready to hit the town(houses).
