It is the first week of April and that means more people out and about roaming the streets of New York taking in the beautiful warmer days and of course allergies. But that doesn’t keep the New Yorkers away from some of the best free and inexpensive spring events. Here are five events that are happening this month that you will not want to miss out!

Smorgasborg

Smorgasborg is Brooklyn’s biggest flea and food market in a variety of different locations. The Williamsburg food market opened on April 2nd and is on the East River State Park looking over the Manhattan skyline. You can try any type of food from the lobster roll to the famous ramen burger.

Coney Island

If you love the beach and roller coasters then Coney Island is the place for you. It could be a 2-hour subway ride over, but if you are from out of state then it is great to experience it at least once in your life. You can grab Nathan’s hotdogs and then take a ride on the famous Cyclone Roller Coaster!

Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival was established in 2002 in lower Manhattan and is known for some of the greatest independent movies. Robert De Niro founded the festival along with two other people. You can easily find free events and workshops online or buy matinee and evening showings of the films for around $13-$23.

Cherry Blossom Festival/ Sakura Matsuri

From April 30-May 1 of 2016 the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens will be holding the 35th anniversary. There will be events and performances that celebrate the traditional Japanese culture. Students with a valid ID are $20.

Mister Softee Trip

Now taking a trip to the Mister Softee ice cream truck is super inexpensive since you can get ice-cream from as little as $4-6 an ice-cream cone.
