21 Reasons to Live At Home This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Edward's chapter.

Many college students don’t like going home for the summer and often at times stay in their college town over the summer break. I’m not one of those kids. I LOVE GOING HOME FOR BREAK. Heck, I think I am going to live at home after college for awhile too! Here’s why:

  • Free rent and everything else that comes with living in a house or apartment like utilities, water, electricity, maintenance, etc.
  • Speaking of maintenance, when something isn’t working instead of waiting forever for your work order to go through or waiting for your landlord to fix whatever it is, you just have to make a quick visit to the living room to ask your dad to fix whatever it is.
  • Also, dads are not just great for fixing things, but killing bugs too!
  • And dads are great for checking on car troubles
  • HOT HOMEMADE MEALS
  • DID I MENTION FREE FOOD AND FULLY STOCKED FRIDGE?
  • AND FREE ALCOHOL (dads make great bartenders)
  • Fancy restaurant outings where mom and dad flip the bill for ya
  • Mom does your laundry
  • The house is always clean
  • Mom is your personal alarm clock when you sleep through your phone alarm
  • You have more clothes to choose from aka your mom and sister’s closets
  • You get to see your pets 24/7
  • Naps with your dog
  • BYE BYE TO ALL THE AUSTIN PARALLEL PARKING
  • NO ROOMMATES
  • Hometown friends
  • Family vacations aka free vacations
  • Your bedroom is big enough for a king sized bed
  • You get to go to all your favorite restaurants, cafes, and bars
  • You get to spend more time with your family, the people you love the most
