Y’all! It is spring in St Andrews, and I couldn’t be happier to see the sun still in the sky at 7:30pm- it’s making that transition back from spring break a bit easier. Just thinking about all the nice weather to come (goodbye weeks of rain and gloom) gets me giddy. To make the most of this abundant sunshine, I complied a Spring in St Andrew’s Bucket List.

To Do:

1. Sangria at Westport

One lazy afternoon go plop yourself down in the beer garden at Westport, get yourself a glass pitcher of sangria, and soak in the sun. Nothing is more luxurious than that.

2. Go for a walk on West Sands with a book

The only thing allowed to interrupt your reading is petting a dog.

3. Get a Rocca panini and sit on the Quad in the sun

Got a free hour on a weekday? Walk on over to Rocca Deli on Bell Street and go to the back…there you will find heaven. Some of the best food I have eaten in St Andrews have been paninis from Rocca. Grab your delicious panini and walk to Sallie’s Quad to eat your simply fabulous lunch.

4. Grab a cone of Jannetta’s ice cream

PSA: It is finally warm enough to justify walking around St Andrews with ice cream. Hallelujah!!

5. On the Rocks during April showers

While there are many sunny days to come, April showers are inevitable. On rainy days, take advantage of On the Rocks, the UK’s largest student-run arts festival. There are loads of events every day (some that are free!), so you are bound to find something right up your alley.

6. Brunch at Cottage Kitchen on the patio

Say goodbye to cramped winter days in Cottage Kitchen. Go outside, sit on the Cottage Kitchen’s patio, and get some fresh air.

7. Day trips to other small Scottish towns

With the weather turning around, it seems like the perfect time to go see some other cute, Scottish coastal towns that are just a short bus ride away. Anstruther- I’m looking at you!
