Stress Reducing Tips You Should Try Now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

Don’t let the stresses of school or work get the best of you. Use these ten tips to get rid of the stress right away!

1. Rest up!

It has been proven that getting more than 7 hours of sleep each night will significantly reduce stress levels, so stop thinking about what the next day holds and enjoy that quality rest your body definitely deserves!

2. Exercise.

Whether you take a walk around campus or have an intense workout in the gym, getting in your daily physical exercise is extremely important. Remember that activity can help your mind and body.

3. Have a spa day.

We all know what it feels like to be pampered, and having a day at the spa, nail or hair salon can have you returning home rejuvenated and confident! However, we also know days like this can be expensive and there’s nothing wrong with recreating these experiences in the presence of your own home!

4. Take a bubble bath.

After returning home from a long day – soaking in a nice, warm tub can be just the cure. Light a candle or two, put on some low music and get out those lavender scented bath salts you’ve been dying to try!

5. Read a book.

Cozy up and read that book you’ve had your eye on sitting on the shelves at Barnes & Noble. There’s just something about reading that leaves you with a sense of accomplishment once you have finished.

6. Go see a movie.

Catch the latest Nicholas Sparks’ rom-com or the newest Marvels’ action movie, with a bag of popcorn and water (because its great for that skin!) in hand. Either one you pick, you’re bound to leave the theater ready to either find your true love or take on the world!

7. Stargaze.

Never forget to look up at the stars once in a while. They can really set your life in perspective and remind you just how big the world is. So grab a blanket and the person you want most next to you, and enjoy this calming activity.

8. Take a walk on the beach.

Whether this is done in the morning when the sun is just coming up, or in the evening when it’s just beginning to go down, this walk can be one of the most relaxing ones you will ever have. The ocean breeze and salty smell will leave you with that Zen feeling you’ve been craving.

9. Go on a picnic

There’s nothing better than sitting under the warm sun with a basket of your favorite lunch foods! Find the best spot in a nearby park or if it’s easier, sit in your own yard and enjoy some savory tastes and Vitamin D.

10. Make a flower arrangement

Sometimes the small things in life make the biggest impact on our well-being. Go by your local produce store and pick out a bunch of your favorite flowers. After this, get out a vase and arrange them to your liking. Have fun with it and don’t forget to capture your new decor with a pic!

It’s hard for us to remember to slow down and do little things for ourselves each day, but once we do, it’s hard to go back!
