Interested in joining Her Campus SC Fall ’16?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

Interested in joining the Her Campus team next semester? Now is your chance: Her Campus South Carolina is currently accepting applications for Fall 2016!

To decide what you would like to apply for, here is a break down of what each position does:

Writers: Writers are usually assigned at least one article a week from one of the four sections on our site: blog, campus profile, snapshot or feature. We also have a rotation for “Breaking news” writer, responsible for writing a quick daily article about the big headline of the day. Being a writer is also a fun opportunity to write about whatever you are passionate about. Articles can range from news, blogs, pop culture to current event updates or opinions. Whether funny, serious, sarcastic or informational, you can write about whatever you please!

Editors: Editors are typically writers who also help out editing content before anything is published, but they may stick to just editing if they choose. Editors work on a two week rotation and have a 24 hour period after they receive an article to turn it into the Senior Editor. Sometimes even the best of writers need a second pair of eyes on their work. Editors act as the middle man between the writer and the the Senior Editor to make sure all content is up to our standards. Editors may be asked to pass an editing test upon joining.

Photographers: A picture says a thousand words. We have a snapshot blog on the site that can include pictures from campus, in and around Columbia, fashion, events, etc. Photographers can also contribute to the website by teaming up with writers to create photos for their articles. They also help out our PR team for pictures for our social media sites, including Instagram and Tumblr.

PR team: Our publicity team is vital to making Her Campus SC known. Through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr, the PR team gets the word out and helps to promote our brand. They are also in charge of planning and publicizing events and sharing all of our articles. If you have ever considered a career in PR or event planning, this is a great place to start!

Graphic Design: We are looking for graphic designers to design fliers for events, and images for our social media accounts and articles. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop or other relevant design applications are encouraged.

Being a part of Her Campus SC is a fun commitment. We always have a good time with everything we do. You are required to attend one meeting a week in addition to your weekly requirements, which vary depending on your position. You are also required to attend all chapter events. We would like to expand our team, but only to people who are serious about our organization!

If you are interested, please send a résumé to south-carolina@hercampus.com. Please also answer the following in your application:

-What position(s) are you interested in and how can you contribute to our team?

-What experience do you have (classes or otherwise) that qualifies you for the position(s)?

-What do you think Her Campus South Carolina should do to increase our presence both on campus and in the Columbia community?

*If you are applying for a writer or editor position, please include a sample blog post that you would write for Her Campus.

**If you are applying for photographer, please include photos showcasing your work that could be relevant to our organization.

Everyone chosen will be notified by the first day of classes next semester.
