Feeling Stressed? Find a Puppy!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

Admist the usual chaos of students rushing to class on Greene Street this past Tuesday, was a much calmer presence: PUPPIES!

The campus event, “Keep Calm and Pet a PAALS Service Dog,” is part of the Keep Calm Campaign run by the Student Health Services.

There were three different dogs available for petting and stress relief, and many students found it quite effective. One student, freshman Mary Shea Converse, was very pleased with the success of this event. Converse said her stress was very high, and that the dogs helped her to, “forget her stress for a little bit and relieve a bit of her homesickness.”

Dogs are frequently brought to college campuses during particularly stressful times of the year. With finals just around the corner, there is no better time than now to give students some comfort and solace in the form of a furry friend.

Student Health Services will be repeating this event at the Thomas Cooper Library during the middle of finals week, on December 10th from 10 a.m. until noon. Be sure to stop by!
