The 6 Best Places to Get Food on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

If there’s anything we can agree on, it’s that everybody loves food. Meal plans are the main source of food for many students living on and off campus, and although there are plenty of choices, some are definitely better than others! Between deciding what we’re in the mood for and picking between the options, it can get a little tricky. So here are a few choices that are always tasty!

1. Community Table

This go-to campus dining spot is relatively new, but always packed. It’s probably one of the best places to get campus food that doesn’t actually taste like campus food. There are tons of options, but make sure you save room for their cookie skillet—it’s to die.

2. Ball Park Grill

Located on the lower level of Russell is a favorite place to eat as everything is always super tasty. Their menu includes burgers, patty melts, grilled cheese, fries, onion rings, and basically everything American comfort. Plus, on Wednesdays they have curly fries, and you can never go wrong with that!

3. Wholly Habaneros

If you’re ever craving Moe’s, but you’d rather save some money and use a meal swipe, Wholly Habaneros is the perfect place. Their menu has so many options, including burritos, nachos, salad bowls, tacos, and quesadillas. You can accompany your entree with a side of chips and gauc or everyones fav, queso! If you ever get there early enough for breakfast, they also have an amazing southern cooked breakfast with eggs, grits, biscuits, tater tots and sausage!

4. Einstein Bros

This is a great place for breakfast on the go, but plan accordingly, the line is ALWAYS long. The best part is the vast amount of butters and cream cheeses to choose for your bagel. However, they also have breakfast sandwhiches, muffins, coffee cakes, parfaits, and of course coffee! The coffee is actually pretty good, besides, why wouldn’t you start your day off with a hot (or iced) cup of joe?

5. Marble Slab

For all of you who have a sweet tooth, go check this place out! When you’ve been studying all night at T-Coop, a bowl of homemade ice cream from your midnight swipe is a delicious reward for all of your hard work. You’ll never get tired of this treat with all the toppings and flavors they offer! Plus, they have smoothies if you’re looking for a healthier—sort of—alternative. Oh, and don’t forget the cookies, they’re the best!

6. Planet Healthy / Garden Toss

It’s very tricky to eat healthy on a meal plan because healthier options are definitely limited, but these two places are the better options for sure. Planet Healthy has a daily changing menu with options like tilapia, salmon, and grilled chicken, and Garden Toss is a salad bar where you can choose from different toppings. The best part is the huge bowl that you can fill to the top! This salad can definitely be filling, trust us.
