5 Things to Look Forward to This Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

The lovely aroma of turkey in the oven, the sound of the kitchen going crazy as everyone is bustling around to get dinner on the table, all of the men in the house crowded around the football game (usually screaming), more food than you could ever imagine, and the overwhelming sense of family coming together on this day to celebrate what their thankful for.  What could be better than that?

Thanksgiving is the holiday meant for family, fun, and good. Here are a few things that you can look forward to this Thursday.

1. Grandma’s cooking

Once you get a whiff of that YUMMY food that’s cooking, it’s almost impossible not be excited to eat!

2. Food comas

After eating twice your body weight, (and not regretting a bit of it) your stomach is full and happy. You will most likely need a long nap before you can continue in the celebration of this wonderful day.

3. Food hangovers

The repercussions of eating too much will probably haunt you the morning after thanksgiving. Feeling like you’re 500 lbs. overweight the morning after… who doesn’t LOVE that?

4. Family drama

Is your family even normal if someone doesn’t get into a fight on thanksgiving/any other holiday of the year?

5. The famous questions

You can probably expect these from every family member within 30 seconds of walking through the door.

“Do you have a boyfriend yet?”

“No, not yet grandma.”

Here at HCSC, we hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and safe travels!
