Anxiety. For those of us who experience and suffer through it know that it’s no laughing matter. It is constant and on some days, can be especially debilitating. For me, there’s moments where I just wish I could rip out of my skin so that I can be free of its presence and my present state of mind. The thing about anxiety though is that even though it can be all consuming, the struggle is internal. Most people suffering from anxiety don’t express any blaring external symptoms, which is why so often people confuse true anxiety with someone who just doesn’t know how to handle stress. Because of that, our disease is quickly dismissed as unimportant and not real enough for others.

Anxiety is something that people live and cope with at every moment within their day, and breaks from its hold are few and far between. Some people are better at coping than others, which is not to say that anyone is weaker, or lazy, or anything like that. We all focus on and experience our own battles at our own paces and to our own degrees. All lives lived with anxiety are valid.

For me I’ve always found that adding a dose of sarcasm and a hint of self-deprecation allows for me to process the hurdles I’m undergoing. If you can laugh at your trials, then often you can live through them and what better way to laugh at them then through memes. So regardless of the degree to which you to live with anxiety, we can all laugh at and validate these experiences together.
