A 7 Song Playlist For Your Pumpkin Spice Pleasure

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sonoma chapter.

It’s that time of year again — mid-September, which means I’ll be doing everything in my power to become as Fall AF as I possibly can. The first step is always a playlist. Here’s seven songs to power through the fall semester.

1. Spooky Couch by Albert Hammond Jr.

Although this song is nowhere near a new release, it’s been one of my fall-favorites for a few years now. Something about the relaxing rhythm of the guitar sequences always get’s me ready to cuddle up with something – my dog, mostly.

2. Where Is My Mind by Pixies

Another oldie but goodie, this song makes me want to watch rain drops drip down a car window dramatically, imagining my very own montage of a relationship I never had. Rom-com montage vibes aside, I inserted a cute video of the song playing to footage of a dog. You’re welcome.

3. Tonight I Feel Like Kafka by Jealous of the Birds

Nothing screams “FALL” to me like music that could alternatively be in an American Horror Story love sequence, which is why I love this song so much. A mildly creepy tune paired with what I like to call “It’s 4AM and I’m Annoyed That I’m Still Awake” lyrics it’s perfect to crunch through dead leaves on your walk to the morning class you really wanted to skip.

4. Ivy by Frank Ocean

It felt like only a few weeks ago when I was pining for a new Frank Ocean album whilst repetitively listening to Channel Orange because, oh wait, it was. With the (completely random but much appreciated) release of his new album, Frank Ocean has me crying into my very warm, maroon scarf, perfect for fall. (PS: Frank Ocean is really taking copyright seriously because there are only covers and this one lip sync on Youtube. You can listen to this song on Spotify though) (Alternatively, here is a great cover to this song by someone named Josh Levi)

5. Warned You by Good Morning

This is a great choice for anyone who’s going to be single during this fall season because it makes you moody and mad about the relationship you don’t have — which means no harm no foul! There’s no person for you to actually be mad at!

7. Only You by Mac Demarco

If there’s one thing I love, it’s staring out any ivy-covered window day dreaming of a canadian tooth gap — which is why this song is so great! I truly can’t think of anything better to do with my time than lighting up my favorite apple cider candle and thinking of Mac Demarcos recorded burps. It’s great!
