I produce video content for YouTube; my channel consists of video tutorials on how to sew clothes from scratch. Being a content creator has helped with my mental health, especially during difficult and stressful times by giving me an outlet to transfer my time and energy to. It is my platform for self-expression, self-care, and self-love.

Making videos is fun and requires creativity and resourcefulness. For me – this comes in the form of figuring out what to sew, how I can achieve the best aesthetics for my video with the supplies I already have, and playing around with editing and filtering my videos. Creating videos that are meant to be viewed as instructional also requires focus, as the videos need to be timely and accurate.

These aspects of being a content creator have helped my mental health. Through having an online platform like YouTube, I can devote the time I have to productive and happy thoughts and ideas. Focus and problem-solving are two aspects that those suffering from bad mental health face, and working on video projects has improved them for me.

In addition, there is so much one can do with fabric! The limitlessness of clothes-making empowers me to make decisions and feel confident that when I jot ideas down, they can come to fruition. Most of the ideas that are on my channel come from inspiration from other creators or something that just occurred to me in the middle of the night. I enjoy the spontaneity of content creation on YouTube, and I am so grateful for the mental health improvements it offers.
