Stress is something that everyone experiences at one time or another. During college, especially towards the end of the semester, it can feel as if stress is just a constant and never-ending state. But I promise you it’s not and you’re not alone in how you’re feeling. Take it from some people who have been where you are now, and hopefully you will gain some motivation from their words of wisdom.

1. You can’t always control what goes on outside, but you can always control what goes on inside

– Wayne Dyer

2. Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find they haven’t half the strength you think they have

– Norman Vincent Peale

3. The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it

– Sydney J. Harris

4. The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another

– William James

5. Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one

– Hans Selye

6. Remember that stress doesn’t come from what’s going on in your life. It comes from your thoughts about what’s going on in your life

– Andrew J. Bernstein

7. Faced with stress, too many people feel they have nowhere to turn to, that they don’t have access to the kind of friendships or communities where they can easily and openly share their problems and worries

– Daisaku Ikeda

8. You are braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think

– Christopher Robin

Nellie Hultman is currently a sophomore at Soka University of America where she is studying Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is the Campus Correspondent for the Her Campus chapter at Soka. After living in 6 countries, she has developed a love for traveling, meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, and trying new foods (lots of it). She hopes to continue traveling the world throughout her life. She plans to attend law school after college, and she desires to build a life focused on inspiring, empowering, and serving others. When she’s not doing homework or thinking about ways to change the world, you can find her researching unsolved crimes, singing in the car, watching Seinfeld… or eating.
