Rules of the road: Boulevard etiquette

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

The Boulevard is not your average tailgate, which leads me to rule number one.

DON’T call it a tailgate.

Bou-le-vard. Learn it. Use it. Live it.

DO dress up.

This is not the place to wear your SMU t-shirt and cutoffs. Boots (or wedges!), a dress and sunglasses is the standard look.

DON’T use a fake I.D.

While alcohol is present at the Boulevard, there are cops around, and it’s been said this is one of the hardest places for SMU students to use a fake I.D. Don’t risk getting an alcohol violation, or worse!

DO visit all of the tents!

First-years are welcome at the Greek tents in front of Dallas Hall! Upperclassmen want to get to know you, and this is an excellent way to make connections throughout campus!

DON’T heckle opposing fans.

Everyone is out there to have fun, so don’t spoil someone’s time by making comments about other fans. Just enjoy the event!

DO go to the game.

Even if football isn’t your thing, you should go to at least one game in your college career. Who knows, you might love it!
