Mixer Season is in full swing, you have a few staple outifts, you’ve got your hair routine down flat, but you find that your makeup is barely there at the end of the night. You are in serious need of a new mixer makeup routine! The key to mixer makeup is layering long wearing products that are defintely more glam and adventurous than your every day makeup. Bear with me, there are going to be a lot of steps, but it will all be worth it when you’re looking fresh and fierce at 3 a.m.

Step 1 – Moisturize

Moisturize your skin! If you plan on using flash photography to get that perfect girls night out selfie in, stay away from lotion with SPF. It could make you look paler, and wash you out in pictures.

Step 2 – Prime time!

Prime your skin using something that promises to hold your makeup in place, like the Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer. And give yourself a little glow with a cream highlight (like the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector) used on the highpoints of the face or all over.

Step 3 – Foundation, Concealer, and powder

This is the step where it is the most crucial to find something that stays in place. All products work differently on different skin types, but the Loreal Paris 24hr Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation is universally flattering, and stays in place for (almost) 24 hours. Paired with the concealer and powder of your choice, your base will stay looking beautiful all night long.

Step 4 – Bronze, Blush, and Highlight

This is where things get a little tedious, but it will all be so worth when your highlight is on *fleek* the entire night. Before you apply any powder products on your face, apply a cream blush, bronzer, and highlight, anywhere that you would put the powder version. This not only amplifies the powder products, but the powder clings to the cream making it super long lasting. I recommend the Ciate London Blush Pop Creme Blush, the Yves Saint Laurent Les Sahariennes Healty Glow Balm-Powder, and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured to go under all of your powder product.

Step 5 – Eyes

Before applying any shadow, apply an eye primer like the Nars Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base. To double the priming effects of the Nars base, use a cream eye shadow with a ton of staying power like the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade Vintage Plum. Simply smudge it out with your finger and you have the perfect, longwearing, smoky eye. Follow with your every day eyeliner and mascara routine.

Step 6 – Lips

After applying a balm, apply a lipliner anywhere that you would apply lipstick. My favorite for a night out is the Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Liner, it literally will not budge, and if your lipstick of choice does wear ofr throughout the night, you’ll still have your water proof lip liner!
