How To: Get Over That Second-Half-of-the-Semester Slump

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

I honestly can’t recall a time I felt so unmotivated and unproductive. The only thing I can relate this to was being a second-semester senior in high school, riding a high after being accepted into SMU. As a senior again, sometimes I feel like my grades no longer really matter and I’m wondering what’s the point of even going to class. Yet something always brings me back to the present and I remember why school matters. It’s kind of like that saying of when you think of giving up remember the reason you held on for so long. Seniors, this is OUR TIME. We are in the last push of school (and side note, our grades might still matter if we want to attend graduate school in the future). While school may be a bust, just remember how amazing SMU is. When I’m day dreaming while attempting to study in Fondren, and glance outside a window I am reminded of how beautiful our campus is.

I am so lucky to have spent my four years of college here. I remember touring this campus for the first time as an anxious high school senior wondering where I would go to college. Now I’m an anxious senior once again wondering where I will be working after graduation. While this time may be stressful for some, the last few weeks of school are always extremely fun. Between away weekends, Peruna Paloozza and special senior events, SMU has an incredibly active campus. And just think, we are only six weeks to graduation!
