Ah, Valentine’s Day. The day of candy hearts, star struck eyes, and anything and everything sold with a heart emblazoned on the front. Maybe you’re a little tired of everything revolving around “love” when you’re single. Maybe you feel like you’ve neglected your friends for your significant other. Either way, coming up around Valentine’s Day is another amazing holiday- Galentine’s Day. Yes, you read that right, GAL-entine’s day. Technically Feb. 13, you can also celebrate this Feb. 15, the day after Valentine’s Day. Either way, round out your weekend of love with a day for celebrating your gals and your girlfriends. These are the people who will always be there for your whether you are a single pringle or super taken. In true Leslie Knope fashion, we have a bunch of ideas for celebrating your squad.

Take advantage of the candy sale
Embrace the fact that this day comes in the middle of the biggest candy weekend of the year. The candy is all on sale! All of the delicious chocolate is now available and much much much cheaper. Each girl picks out a favorite candy, and then you all head back to the dorms, throw it all in a pile, and pig out until you transcend the sugar high. Stay strung out on sugar and most importantly stay cheap.

Take a burlesque class
If you want to work off the candy you just ate, or feel the self confidence boost of dancing like the sexy ladies you are, then take a burlesque class. Channel your inner Christina Aguilera and take your ladies to Dallas School of Burlesque. The first class is usually free, just look on the website here. Girl bonding over sweat and sexy dancing probably lasts forever. Just sayin’.

Go ice skating
This is such a couple’s date, but come on, how much more fun would it be with your girls? With girlfriends, you don’t have to be embarrassed if you fall on your butt. You can Snapchat as you laugh at each other on the ground. Imagine your squad skating with linked arms in an indomitable daisy chain that no one can pass. Sold? I am. Swap stories
You and your girls will desperately need to exchange all your hilarious Valentine’s Day stories. Who got asked out by a creepy stranger for a last ditch date attempt- aka for Desperation Day? Who had their date spill wine on them? Who tripped and fell down the stairs in their ridiculously high V-Day shoes? Who said the “L-word” to their significant other for the first time? Pull out your low-priced chocolate (see above!) and laugh and cry and laugh again over all of the wild things that tend to happen around the holiday of love.

Shop til you drop
Valentine’s Day was the day to treat your partner, but Galentine’s Day is the day to treat yourself. Lingerie is generally on sale around Valentine’s Day, sure, but now it is on sale at most big box stores. A ton of other clothes will be on sale as well, so why not dress yourself to impress yourself? Want to treat your girlfriends too? The President’s Day sales are coming. Swap girls in the squad and each get a gift for each other. Now you’re showing your love by getting her something she could pick out herself- and thus actually like- and you’re keeping the group love going. Flowers will also be on sale, so maybe get a Girl Appreciation Bouquet as well. This is the time to celebrate your friendship love, but who says you can’t do that while also saving some cash? Nobody!

Play a round of paint ball
Wanna get wild? Paint ball is the way to go. The squad can work out their Valentine’s aggression and also reenact Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood music video, by being like a real girl gang and shooting each other with colored paint. It will be totally bad-ass and totally fun. If your Valentine’s was especially awful, work off that anger by shooting your bestie with pink paint over and over again.

See “Zoolander 2”
A movie night is the funnest thing to do with your girlies, and Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get out of your pajamas and watch a movie that isn’t on Netflix. “Zoolander 2” comes out Feb. 12, just in time for you and your girls to rejoice over the the return of Derek and Hansel. Watch the trailer here. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson (a Dallas homeboy) play Derek Zoolander and Hansel, two ridiculously stupid (and good looking?) male models back at it in this episode to save the most beautiful people in the world from being killed by an evil fashion mastermind. This movie is fun for the whole squad.

Celebrate your lady love this year and head out for Galentine’s Day. Your girls are some of the strongest people in your life, and they definitely deserve some love too. Have fun facing your sugar coma and feeling a huge influx of love and affection.
