An Open Letter To My Mom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

Dear Mom,

You’re endless love and selflessness is overwhelming. I am beyond lucky to have a mother like you. You’re support and endless positivity inspires me to keep going and to try my best in everything I do. You always tell me how proud you are of me, but I am so extremely proud of you. You truly inspire me to be the best person I can be. You power through all the struggles and challenges life has thrown at you with poise and grace. You are the glue to our family and the most loving person I know. You’re the reason I work as hard as I do in academics and my extracurriculars. You’re the reason I get up everyday and go to class, work, meetings, clubs, and everything else. Even when I feel like not leaving my bed; you have motivated me to keep doing my best. I am where I am because of your support and kind words. You take care of everyone else before even thinking of yourself. I admire your hard work, dedication, and commitment to your job, your family, and everything else. You are my mother, my best friend, my mentor, my inspiration, and my role model. I hope one day I can be half the woman you are and continue to be. Thank you for coming to every game, recital, play, concert, award ceremony, and all my other extracurriculars. There was no better feeling than looking out in the crowd and seeing you there supporting me as I grew up. Thank you for helping me through my applications to college and coming with me to every tour. Thank you for supporting me in the biggest decision I have had to make so far in coming to Saint Michael’s. Thank you for supporting my major even when others have had their doubts. I don’t think you’ll ever realize how much of an impact you have had on my life. Thank you for simply being you; the best mother a girl could ask for. I always look forward to our phone calls everyday, even if it is just a five minute conversation on my walk back from class. Thank you for being realistic and honest with me even if I wasn’t going to like the outcome at first. Lastly, thank you for everything, I wouldn’t be who I am without you.
