Open Letter to My Crazy Family

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

To my crazy family,

Although you probably already know this, I am eternally grateful that I was born into such a crazy family. And when I say crazy I mean crazy.. I mean we do sing god bless America at every family event. Despite the absolute embarrassment I felt at times growing up I wouldn’t trade it. And not to mention I owe you all a huge thank you.

Thank you to my many cousins for the humbling Charlie horses when I was being a little brat. Thank you for the laughs and the cries and the sleepovers. Thank you for eating tubs of gravy with me. Thank you for always supporting me and my every move, for showing up to say hi at my new job and for the encouragement and love. In times of need you are the biggest support system of all, and I can always count on you to pick me up in times of need (physically and literally). Thank you for the tough love when I was going astray and for always telling me how it is (even though at times it is a lot). Thank you to my aunts and uncles for always staying updated on my life and never failing to comment on my facebook posts. And thank you for giving me the best cousins and the best friends.  I can honestly say that I feel bad for people that don’t have a family like ours. They really are missing out.

I am beyond thankful for the memories we’ve made as well. I can’t imagine my life without the celebrations, the apple pies, and  the family wiffle ball games. I don’t know where I’d be without you all.  Although we have all moved in very different directions, I will forever be grateful for the lessons and love I have received through the years from you all. There’s nothing better than our crazy family.

Xoxo
