It’s that time of the semester…you know the one. It’s right after Spring break, where you may or may not be drowning in midterms, the end is near but not quite in reach, and basically you feel as if you are running out of steam. It’s what I call the second semester, mid semester slump.

I for one am beginning to see the light at the end of the hell tunnel that is also known as junior year. I’m not sure what it is about this year specifically, but I feel as if I’ve been sprinting a marathon both semesters. Between my classes, my course load, general life adjustments (like my bff going abroad, or the passing of a close friend) alongside the general stresses that come with being a college student, to say I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and running out of motivation is an understatement.

Although I feel as though I’ve been running on E, with the warm weather coming and all the fun ahead, like Easter break, P Day, and Derby Day I know that it is necessary for me to finish as strong as I started.

So for anyone else that is seriously feeling like they’ve just about had it and are ready to pack their bags for summer break, I hear you, I feel you, but it’s time to shift things into high gear and buckle down for the last two months of the academic year. Besides, it makes those special SMC days that much more fun and stress relieving when you’ve actually earned them.
