As the leaves start to turn and the weather is getting colder, everyone is getting ready for autumn. Even if the weather and leaves haven’t exactly started changing yet, as soon as we hit September, it feels as though we should at least start thinking about the upcoming season. So here are a few ways you can be basic this autumn!

  1. Go to Bath and Body Works!

Every autumn, Bath and Body Works comes out with their fall scent range. Going in and smelling all of the different scents can really put you in the autumn spirit! Buying a few pumpkin scented candles or body lotions are a great start for making your room, or body, smelling like the season!

2. Pumpkin Spice everything

Whether you buy pumpkin spice candles from Bath and Body Works or buy a PSL at Starbucks, pumpkin spice definitely defines the autumn, and PSL season only comes once a year. If you want a more affordable option, Dunkin Donuts has pumpkin flavored coffee, which is almost just as good!

3. Fall clothing

It’s time to pull out your chunky knit sweaters, leggings, and Uggs! Personally, I feel as autumn is one of the best seasons for fashion because there are so many options of things you can wear. Whether or not you like Uggs, the colder weather is a great excuse to wear super comfy clothing. Scarves and sweater dresses are also must-haves for the colder months.

4. Jump in a pile of leaves

As the leaves are starting to change colors and fall off of the trees, it’s the perfect time to jump the leaves (and maybe take a few pictures to post on Instagram).

5. Start planning for Halloween

Although it’s only September, it’s never too early to start planning your Halloween costumes with your friends! Decorating your dorm room, buying some candy corn, and watching Halloween movies will definitely put you in the Halloween mood!

6. Apple picking and pumpkin patches

Last but not least, going apple picking and going to a pumpkin patch are autumn essentials. Drinking fresh apple cider and carving pumpkins make you feel ready for the colder months ahead.

And if all else fails, or if you aren’t exactly an autumn person, then just start planning for winter! Because right after Halloween is over, we know that our Christmas enthusiasts will start listening to Christmas music and planning gifts for December.
