5 On-A-Budget Christmas Gifts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

As the semester comes to an end, you might just be starting to think about what to buy your friends and family for Christmas. On a college budget, it may be difficult to scrape together enough money to buy something that you think is meaningful for the ones you love. However, there are many different options for budget-friendly Christmas presents. Here are five options you could consider when you’re planning your ‘Christmas shopping list’ this year!

1. Cookie/cocoa mix in a jar

This is a good option for someone on a budget, as all you need to buy are staple ingredients in order to make cookie or hot chocolate mix in a jar. It shows that you spent time into making the gift, but also guarantees that the person you give this gift to will be baking cookies in the very near future — you may or may not reap the benefits of this. There are so many different ideas and recipes on Pinterest that would be helpful to look at!

2. Create your own gift basket!

Making different themed gift baskets is a great way to show someone you care. They’re a great option to personalize something for your friends and family. A few examples are top drugstore makeup items, coffee lover, chocolate lover, or maybe even a sleep gift basket (including a sleep mask, cozy blanket, and sleep spray). There are so many different ideas for this option!

3. Photo album/scrapbook

This gift would be really good for anyone of your friends or family members (moms) that are a little more sentimental. You can buy a photo album and print photos to put in the album and there you go! A great Christmas present that anyone would appreciate. If you’re feeling a little more artsy, you could also create more of a scrapbook.

4. Gift sets

Although not all gift sets are exactly “budget friendly”, during this time of year, they’re definitely a great value. It’s also a great way to test different products you’ve wanted to try (if you want to buy a Christmas gift for yourself).

5. Scarves, fuzzy socks, mittens

During the winter season, anything warm, soft, and fuzzy are great gifts, especially for the people in your life who are always cold. You also can never have too many scarves or fuzzy socks!
