10 Songs to Listen to This Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

Now that the newness of being back at school has faded, the levels of stress are real. One of my favorite ways to destress and relax is to listen to music. Here are 10 songs you should listen to this week to help ya relax and to help ya feel groovy af.

1. Earned It By: Bootstraps

This is a cover of The Weeknd’s Earned It originally debuted in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey. This version is genuinely beautiful and damn girl, you earned it.

2. Coins By: Local Natives

I’m obsessed with Local Natives. If you haven’t given them a listen yet, you need to. I recommend their latest album Sunlit Youth.

3. Beverly Laurel By: Tame Impala

I’m also obsessed with Tame Impala. Their music is super catchy and has a great beat to tap your toe or bob your head to. This song is a little wavy, but I’m into it.

4. Feeling Whitney By: Post Malone

I’m HERE for moody Post Malone. The dude can sing AND rap…he’s adorable, this song is great.

5. Seventeen By: Sjowgren

Seriously, if you’re tryna dance with your girlfriends and reminisce about high school, blast this song LOUD. I’ve never heard of this artist before this song, but it’s so good that she’s worth checking into further.

6. Compromised By: Tim Atlas

Nothing gets me going more than a funky beat or a clever lyric. This song has both. Enjoy.

7. Beige By: Yolk Lore

I very recently discovered Yolk Lore and wow, they’re good. They hit ALL the feels with their lyrics and their sound is super soothing. Check them out, I also recommend listening to Goodpain by them.

8. Drift By: Benji Lewis

This song is super calming like its title. It’s the kind of song you would listen to sitting by a large body of water, getting lost in your own thoughts. I dig it

9. Anna (Go To Him) By: The Beatles

My love for The Beatles is immense. This song has such a groovy, funky little beat and is nostalgic in the way that makes you miss how simple life was in the 70s even though you can’t relate to that life at all…cuz you’re young and born in the 90s -________-

10. Angela By: The Lumineers

The Lumineers are great. Their soothing, their lyrics are witty and they’re the kind of artist that is well in touch with their emotion. Listen to this song and hug your pals.

Hopefully these tunes are a good mix of all the kinds of feels life may be hitting at you right now. School is stressful, but take good care of yourself. You are important, music is important, make both a priority.
