Ingredients for a Night of Wellness

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SLU chapter.

1. Coloring books

Adult coloring books are one of my favorite inventions. Coloring has such a calming effect. Coloring is a great way for your brain to forget about everything else and focus on coloring. It’s such a great feeling when you finally finish the picture and see all of your hard work pay off!

2. Face masks

Face masks are very soothing, and your skin will be glowing when they are ready to wash off!

3. Candles

Candles are a great addition to your calming atmosphere. There are specific scents that help change your mood. Known calming scents include lemon, lavender, and jasmine.

4. Mood Lighting

Mood lighting is essential for a calming environment. If the lighting is too harsh, it can excite the brain instead of calm it. Low lighting with warm tones is ideal for a night of wellness.

5. Gratitude Journal

Having a gratitude journal has proved to help people focus on what is important in life and to live in the present moment. Start out small and do five things a day that you are grateful for and gradually work your way up to 100 things a day!

6. Feel good entertainment

Feel good television and movies are a must in any wellness-themed evening. Some recommendations I have are The Office, New Girl, and anything Disney!

7. Good Company

A night of wellness is never complete without good friends who support your journey through self-love.
