The Oscars Best Moments

Last Sunday marked the 84th Annual Academy Awards ceremony. Celebrities galore walked the red carpet and showed off their magnificent dresses. Silent movie, “The Artist” was the winner of the night, winning for “Best Picture,” “Best Directing” and “Best Actor in a Leading Role,” including “Best Score” and “Best Costume Design.” As expected, the Oscars this year boasted poignant moments conveying all types of emotions: some heartwarming, some sad, some hilarious, some weird and some just plain unexpected. New York Fashion Week came and went, with a long list (nearly 100!) of designers who presented their Fall Ready-To-Wear collections. It was a blast following coverage of all the different shows. This NYFW featured newbies Skaist-Taylor of Juicy Couture fame, husband and wife team, Sachin and Babi and, Whitney Eve (designed by Whitney Port of “The Hills” and “The City” fame). There are too many collections to review, but here is a sampling of some of the most unique to walk the runway!

Guacamole Brie Melt: A crusty French baguette is filled with ?guacamole, sun dried tomatoes, herbs and brie cheese then broiled till hot and bubbly.
Why? The avocado in the guacamole is thought to resemble male testicles, especially since the fruit hangs in pairs. The Aztec called the avocado tree “ahuacuati” which translates to “testicle tree”.  Catholic priests in Spain found avocado to be so sexual that they forbade it.
