My Top 5 Go-To Lush Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Skidmore chapter.

I have been a fan of Lush for a few years now and I love trying out their new products. That being said there are a few that have become staples for me (all of which are either in my shower caddy or dorm room right now) that I find myself repurchasing. Some of my real faves are from holiday lines, such as the bucks fizz and snow fairy solid body conditioners I stocked up on at Christmastime. Here are my top Lush products (in no particular order) that you can find year round:

Scrubee body butter

The scrubee body butter was launced as a Mother’s Day product last year and was added to the permenent collection. This little bee contains “scrubby ground almonds and coconut shell with softening honey, cocoa and shea butter in alternating exfoliating and moisturizing stripes for the smoothest skin.” I love this exfoliater because it isn’t messy and it moisturizes while it exfoliates, unlike some exfoliaters that leave your skin soft, but in desperate need for lotion.

Let The Good Times Roll face and body cleanser

This is my go to face wash and probably the Lush product I have used the most. This face wash is unlike any other I’ve used. This face wash contains maize flour, polenta and a popcorn topping which is combined with “glycerin and corn oil to give you a very soft, moisturizing scrub, leaving your skin bright, clean and smooth.” This face wash gently exfoliates and I use it just about every night. Much like the Scrubee body conditioner it exfoliates but also leaves your skin feeling really moisturized- oh, and it smells amazing!

Soak and Float shampoo bar

I have tried a few of Lush’s shampoo bars and Soak and Float is definitely my go-to because of its scalp-soothing properties. This shampoo bar has cade oil to treat “dry or angry scalps” along with rose oil which also works to calm your scalp and gives the shampoo its “sweet and smoky perfume.” I find my scalp can get especially dry and irritated this time of year and this is one of the few shampoos that actually makes my scalp feel better after using it. You also get a lot of use out of Lush’s shampoo bars, with each bar giving 80-100 washes. My only complaint about this shampoo is the little marigold and rose petals that you can see sticking out of the bar tend to come out and get in your hair as you use the product.

The Birth of Venus jelly face mask

I have only purchased this product once (I still haven’t finished all of it and I bought it back in the fall) but its quickly become a favorite of mine. I have tried quite a few of Lush’s fresh face masks; Mask of Magnaminty, cupcake, oatfix, and cosmetic warrior, but The Birth of Venus has been my favorite so far. The Birth of Venus is very different however from these other face masks since it is a jelly face mask. This mask leaves my skin feeling so soft and renewed I use it anytime I want to pamper myself. The skin balancing mask contains “Mineral-rich fresh sea water [that] tones and refreshes skin, as lavender oil and a fresh rose infusion calm irritation and soothe redness. All of it’s whipped up in an intensely softening carrageenan base for buttery smooth skin.” If you’re looking to try a face mask at Lush this is definitely the one I would recommend!

Big Bang Bubble Bar

Bang Bang has got to be my favorite bubble bar. I love the citrusy scent- the bubble bar has softening avocado butter, zesty grapefruit oil and refreshing lemon myrtle oil- and it turns your bath blue and creates mountains of bubbles as any good bubble bar should. The bubble bar also has a bath melt blended into it (which I believe are the purple stars) which has extra skin softening properties so your skin will be left feeling extremely soft after getting out of the bath.
