Halloween Costumes: Groups

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Skidmore chapter.

Now that autumn is in full swing, Halloween can be seen clearly on the horizon. That means it’s now costume crunch time, whether you’re ready or not. If you’re having a hard time picking a costume, maybe you should consider grabbing your close friends and pulling together a group theme. To help kick start some ideas, here are our picks for the best group costumes for you and your BFFs this Halloween!

Celebrity Families. Whether it’s Kim and Kanye or Beyonce, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy, there are plenty of sassy families that are itching to be turned into fun group costumes. So pick your favorite tabloid royalty and get ready to be diva-fied.

Animal Mania. Dressing up like animals is no novelty, but using an animal as a theme can be fun. Pick a mouse, for example, and you can be Mighty Mouse, Pinky and the Brain, Mickey Mouse, and Jerry of Tom and Jerry. Pick a cat and you can be Tom, the Aritstocats, the Cat in the Hat, Puss in Boots, and Crookshanks. There are so many ways to take this.

Seven Deadly Sins. You need a big group for this one, but the possibilities and ways to interpret the sins are endless! We recommend assigning each sin to a specific color that matches (envy is green, lust is red, etc) and even using crazy make-up to elaborate. Plus, deciding who gets to be what sin is half the fun.

Through the Ages (Plain or Themed). Instead of everyone dressing up as the Pink Ladies or flappers, have each person pick a different time period so together you span the past century! Or you could get a little more specific and be the progression of a certain person – for example, the many looks of Britney Spears or Madonna.

Sorority Girls. You know all those Facebook pics you see of friends at other schools wearing pink spandex and signing Greek letters with their fingers? The sorority girl is pretty much the opposite of a typical Skidmore student, and that’s what makes it the perfect costume. So get those letters and get ready to pledge.
